Terms of Use
Last updated April 22, 2026
Unanswer (the "Service") is a research and educational tool operated by Reuben Thiessen. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What Unanswer is
Unanswer is a design exploration in critical thinking. It uses a large language model to refuse to answer your questions and instead reflect them back through Bloom's Taxonomy so you can expand them. It is not a search engine, professional advisor, or authoritative source of information.
Beta status and availability
The Service is in early private beta. It may change, break, lose data, or become unavailable at any time without notice. We make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or continuity.
Your content
You retain all rights to the questions, revisions, and reflections you write. By submitting content to the Service you grant Reuben Thiessen a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content through Anthropic's Claude API and to store it in Google Firebase services in order to provide the Service.
You also agree that your anonymized data — stripped of identifying information such as your name, email, Google account details, and IP address — may be used for research purposes, including academic publications, grant deliverables, and public writing about critical thinking, question formulation, and AI-mediated learning.
Do not submit content that is illegal, infringes on others' rights, contains secrets or personal data of others, or that you do not have permission to share.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or probe the Service.
- Do not scrape, republish, or re-host the Service without permission.
- Do not use the Service to generate content that violates Anthropic's usage policies or applicable law.
Intellectual property
The Unanswer name, design, source code, prompts, and pedagogical framework are the intellectual property of Reuben Thiessen. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without written permission.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reuben Thiessen shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service.
Changes
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
